Jersey skirt

I made this quick skirt yesterday! A very simple model without any pattern pieces to cut out, you just measure your hips before you cut the fabric. It turned out a bit short (Turning the inner layer  halfway around makes the skirt a lot shorter.), a little too tight around the hips and way too big in the waist, but with a sweater to hide the top, I think it looks good. And it's comfortable. So I'm rather pleased. After all, this is one of my first attempts at making clothes for myself.

Toddler Pants

My one-year-old had worn out his pants from crawling around on the floor and was in need of a new pair. I thought I'd give it a try, even though I haven't made a lot of clothes before. So I borrowed this old book from the library, with patterns for children's overalls, sweaters and more. (A Swedish book: Sy enkla barnkläder av Lisen Elmberg och Lena Lidbeck) Some of the models looked really outdated, but I thought these pants looked allright.

I managed to sew them together after some seam ripping and allthough they are a bit big and poofy, I think they turned out okay. And my son seems to like them :-)

The fabric is a piece of corduroy with some stretch in it and I used ribbing for the cuffs and waistband. 

My first garment (almost)

I've made a skirt!! After a lot of ripping, some grouching and some not so nice words it's finally done. It's not perfect, but I'm so proud I managed to get it done :-) And I think this is something that I'm actually going to wear. (Unlike the bright orange anorak with a large floral print, that I made in school)

I had lots of trouble understanding the directions for sewing this thing. The pattern is from Burda Style (2/2010) and it might have been a bit too much for me and my sewing abilities so far. It didn't really say anything about how to finish the different steps, just "attach the zipper" or "make the waistband". Difficult for a novice. (The pattern was rated easy, but maybe they meant easy for an experienced sewer?)

Fabric from Stoff & Stil (don't know what kind of fabric, but it's kind of thick, and if you cut it diagonally it's a bit stretchy.
